Apparently there's a book and someone who's coined the phrase of "churchSnob" before I ever thought of the concept. I haven't read her books, or tweets; in NO WAY am I trying to take whatever she has away from her.
If anything it was a comfort to know I'm not the only one whose had this "churchSn0b" mentality. While I know better than to stay in this frame of mind for very long...
(something about the proud and Humpty Dumpty come to mind)
...on occasion it flares up & I've felt the need to vent said frustration...Besides, isn't acknowledging your errors the best way to correct them? ...anyone...???
I've made twitter updates once upon a time & eventually I'll have to tell my story of churchSn0bery, but I'm not usually the blogging type. I've always felt better speaking words out loud so I can think through what I hear.
And yes, you'll have to tell me the same thing seven times before I get it because I'm tripping up constantly. I wonder how God keeps from getting fed up with us cause I know I get fed up with myself all the time.
and then you have to remind yourself of THE TRUTH...
While we are made in the image of God, we are not by nature quickly to take on His characteristics. He is fair, just while at the same time kind and loving. Perfect, while all we can focus on at times are not only OUR imperfections, but call out the specks and flaws of EVERYONE ELSE. (I'm not actually yelling in caps, just trying to give extra emphasis)
'would love to hear any feedback at all...do you think this is a worth while topic to tackle?
Hopefully this will be both a venting agent and a recognition of the truth. That while there are things in the church that drive us crazy, we serve an amazing God that is ultimately the head of The Church.
